CLT vs TOR: No goal (foul)

Outcome: After review, Toronto #21 [Jonathan Osorio] fouled Charlotte #9 [Idan Toklomati] prior to Toronto #38 [Jackson Gilman] scoring a goal.

The final decision was no goal and a direct free kick [to Charlotte FC].

Length of Review: 2:50

PRO’s opinion: Osorio (TOR) moved and blocked Toklomati (CLT), setting a pick that freed up Gilman (TOR) in the penalty area, who headed the ball into the goal. The referee was correct to disallow the goal for a charging offense after video review.

DC vs STL: No goal (offside)

Outcome: After review, D.C. #3 [Lucas Bartlett] was in an offside position when the ball was played to him. D.C. #3 then interfered with play when he headed the ball prior to D.C. #11 [Louis Munteanu] scoring a goal.

The final decision was offside and an indirect free kick [to St Louis CITY].

Length of Review: 2:27

PRO’s opinion: At the moment the free kick was taken, Bartlett (DC) was in an offside position. The referee was correct to disallow the goal for the offside offense after video review.

NE vs MIN: Penalty kick

Outcome: After review, Minnesota #15 [Michael Boxall] fouled New England #11 [Dor Turgeman] inside the penalty area.

The final decision was a penalty kick [to New England Revolution].

Length of Review: 1:41

PRO’s opinion: Boxall (MIN) challenged Turgeman (NE), and the attacker went down after the defender made contact with Turgeman’s leg, tripping him and forcing him to ground. The referee was correct to award a penalty kick after video review.

SJ vs DAL: Yellow card (stopping a promising attack)

Outcome: After review, San Jose #28 [Benji Kikanovic] did not deny an obvious goal-scoring opportunity against Dallas #6 [Ran Binyamin].

The final decision was a yellow card to San Jose #28 for stopping a promising attack.

Length of Review: 3:35

PRO’s opinion: This was a clear pushing foul by Kikanovic (SJ), and the referee issued a yellow card for stopping a promising attack. There was some distance between Binyamin (DAL) and the covering defender, Roberts (SJ), who was on the inside. However, it was not clear if Roberts could cover the distance to defend and Binyamin still had to move toward goal to get into a scoring position. This was not an obvious goal-scoring opportunity because Roberts was in a position to possibly defend. The referee maintained his original decision after video review.
