Outcome: After review, New York #7 [Cade Cowell] was in an offside position when the ball was passed to him by New York #48 [Ronald Donkor]. New York #7 then interfered with play when he touched the ball prior to New York #6 [Robert Voloder] scoring a goal.
The final decision was offside and an indirect free kick [to Inter Miami].
Length of Review: 1:29
PRO’s opinion: At the moment the ball was played to Cowell (RBNY), he was in an offside position. The referee was correct to disallow the goal for the offside offense after video review.
MTL vs PHI: No penalty
Outcome: After review, Philadelphia #18 [Andre Blake] did not foul Montréal #10 [Iván Jaime] inside the penalty area.
The final decision was no penalty and a drop ball [to Philadelphia Union].
Length of Review: 2:17
PRO’s opinion: Jaime (MTL) was challenged by a diving Blake (PHI), who went to ground in an attempt to play the ball with his hands and brought down the attacker. Not seeing any contact on the ball, the referee awarded a penalty, but the VAR determined that Blake had played the ball with his hands before any contact with his opponent. The referee correctly rescinded the penalty after video review.
MTL vs PHI: Goal
Outcome: After review, Montréal #13 [Luca Petrasso] did not foul Philadelphia #16 [Ben Bender] prior to the goal by Montréal #10 [Iván Jaime].
The final decision was goal [to CF Montréal].
Length of Review: 3:20
PRO’s opinion: In the turnover before the goal by Jaime (MTL), Petrasso (MTL) and Bender (PHI) challenged for a bouncing ball. The referee did not identify a foul in real time and play continued. The VAR believed that Petrasso had kicked Bender’s leg, and, as this started the attacking phase of play, he recommended that the goal be disallowed. The referee determined that Petrasso kicked the ball and made simultaneous contact with Bender’s leg, and that no foul was committed. He maintained his decision to award a goal after video review.
POR vs LAFC: No goal (offside)
Outcome: After review, Los Angeles #11 [Timothy Tillman] was in an offside position when the ball was passed to him by Los Angeles #21 [Ryan Raposo]. Los Angeles #11 then interfered with play when he touched the ball prior to Los Angeles #5 [Ryan Porteous] scoring a goal.
The final decision was offside and an indirect free kick [to Portland Timbers].
Length of Review: 1:29
PRO’s opinion: At the moment the ball was played to Tillman (LAFC), he was in an offside position. The referee was correct to disallow the goal for the offside offense after video review.
SKC vs SJ: No red card (spitting)
Outcome: After review, Kansas City #8 [Jake Davis] did not commit a spitting offense.
The final decision was that there was no spit directed at San Jose #20 [Nick Fernandez]. Play restarted with a direct free kick [to San Jose Earthquakes] for the initial foul.
Length of Review: 2:25
PRO’s opinion: After Davis (SKC) tripped Fernandez (SJ), he said something to his opponent, who was lying on the ground, and then he spit from a close distance. The VAR analyzed the available angles and identified that it was directed at his opponent. After video review, the referee determined that Davis spit at the ground and not at the opponent, and that this was not a red card offense.
