Matchday 19 overview
There were five Video Reviews during Matchday 19.

NYC vs ATL: No penalty kick

Outcome: After review, New York #30 [Tomás Romero] did not foul Atlanta #14 [Jamal Thiaré] inside the penalty area.

The final decision was no penalty and a drop ball [to New York City].

Length of Review: 4:15

PRO’s opinion: The referee, in consultation with his assistant referee, determined that goalkeeper Romero (NYC) played the ball before he made any contact with Thiaré (ATL). The VAR analyzed the available angles and was not able to see contact with the ball and recommended an on-field review. There was no angle that showed whether Romero had played the ball or not and without clear video evidence that the on-field decision was incorrect the referee maintained his original decision.

CLB vs VAN: No goal (offside)

Outcome: After review, Columbus #23 [Mohamed Farsi] was in an offside position when the ball was passed to him by Columbus #13 [Aziel Jackson]. Columbus #23 then interfered with play when he touched the ball prior to Columbus #13 scoring a goal.

The final decision was offside and an indirect free kick [to Vancouver Whitecaps].

Length of Review: 2:17

PRO’s opinion: At the moment the ball was played to Farsi (CLB), he was standing in an offside position. The referee was correct to disallow the goal for the offside offense after video review.

MIN vs SD: Penalty kick

Outcome: After review, Minnesota #13 [Anthony Markanich] committed a punishable handball offense inside the penalty area.

The final decision was a penalty kick [to San Diego].

Length of review: 1:19

PRO’s opinion: Markanich (MIN) had his arms extended away from his body, when he attempted to block the cross by Alejandro Alvarado Jr (SD). This made his body unnaturally bigger and created a barrier for the ball, which hit his left hand. The referee was correct to award a penalty kick after video review.

RSL vs DC: Goal

Outcome: After review, no offside offense was committed by Salt Lake #72 [Zavier Gozo] in the buildup to scoring a goal.

The final decision was a goal [to Real Salt Lake].

Length of review: 2:13

PRO’s opinion: Gozo (RSL) was in an onside position when the ball was last played by his teammate, Alexandros Katranis (RSL). The referee was correct to award the goal after video review.

RSL vs DC: No goal (offside)

Outcome: After review, Salt Lake #23 [Ariath Piol] was in an offside position when the ball was passed to him by Salt Lake #16 [Tyler Wolff]. Salt Lake #23 interfered with play when he touched the ball prior to scoring a goal.

The final decision was offside and an indirect free kick [to D.C. United].

Length of Review: 2:02
