The officials were selected by each federation’s referee committee after passing a FIFA fitness test. All the officials then attended technical trainings and theoretical sessions in Chicago before the tournament started.

When the tournament did start, Armando Villarreal was first up to receive an assignment, as fourth official for Peru’s 1-0 Group B victory over Haiti on June 4.

Three PRO officials were then on duty on June 6, with Jair Marrufo and Corey Parker involved in Argentina’s 2-1 win over Chile in Group D. Peter Manikowski, meanwhile, was the reserve assistant referee for the other Group D match-up; Panama 2-1 Bolivia.

Then came a big game for three of PRO’s officials on June 8, with Mark Geiger, Joe Fletcher and CJ Morgante being assigned to Brazil versus Haiti in Group B. Brazil took the honors in Orlando, winning 7-1, with the crew enjoying a successful match.

The PRO representation was even stronger at Gillette Stadium on June 10 when border rivals Chile and Bolivia went head-to-head – Jair Marrufo was the referee, Corey Rockwell and Peter Manikowski the two ARs, and Armando Villarreal fourth official for a showdown that Chile won 2-1.
