The final decision was a penalty kick [to Portland Thorns].

Length of Review: 3:30

PRO’s opinion: Howell (GFC) stepped on the heel of Tordin (POR) while she was attempting to play the ball, causing her to fall to the ground. The referee was correct to award a penalty kick after video review.

KC vs NC: Direct free kick

Outcome: After review, Kansas City #17 [Michelle Cooper] fouled North Carolina #2 [Ashley Sanchez] outside the penalty area.

The final decision was no penalty and a direct free kick [to North Carolina Courage]. A yellow card was issued to Kansas City #17 for stopping a promising attack.

PRO’s opinion: Cooper (KC) tripped Sanchez (NC) as she moved toward the Kansas City Current penalty area. The referee was correct to rescind the penalty kick, as the tripping offense occurred outside the penalty area, and to issue a yellow card for stopping a promising attack after video review.

ORL vs UTA: No penalty

Outcome: After review, Utah #24 [Cloé Lacasse] committed a handball offense prior to Orlando #21 [Oihane Hernández] holding her inside the penalty area.

The final decision was no penalty and the yellow card to Orlando #21 was rescinded. Play restarted with a direct free kick [to Orlando Pride].

Length of Review: 4:15

PRO’s opinion: Prior to the holding offense by Hernández (ORL), Lacasse (UTA) made contact with the ball with her left arm while attempting to control it. The referee was correct to cancel the penalty kick and rescind the caution to Hernández for stopping a promising attack by holding an opponent after video review.
