Week 4 overview
There were two Video Reviews during Week 4.

HOU vs LOU: Penalty kick

Outcome: After review, Houston #15 [Avery Patterson] committed a punishable handball offense inside the penalty area.

The final decision was a penalty kick [to Racing Louisville].

Length of review: 2:18

PRO’s opinion: Patterson (HOU) attempted to block Ellie Jean’s (LOU) cross, but it struck her left arm, which was extended away from her body. The referee correctly awarded a penalty kick after the video review.

UTA v CHI: Penalty kick

Outcome: After review, Chicago #34 [Tessa Dellarose] fouled Utah #5 [Cece Delzer] inside the penalty area.

The final decision was penalty kick [to Utah Royals].

Length of Review: 3:19

PRO’s opinion: Dellarose (CHI) challenged Delzer (UTA) and gained possession of the ball after her opponent fell to the ground. The VAR determined that the defender had not played the ball and had made contact with the attacker’s left foot, which tripped her. The referee was correct to award a penalty kick after the video review.
