PRO’s opinion: The referee awarded a goal in real time. The VAR analyzed the available angles at the start of the attacking possession phase and believed that Franklin (CHI) had committed a tripping offense, giving Chicago Stars possession of the ball, which led to the goal.
In real time, the referee determined that Franklin had touched the ball prior to any contact with her opponent, which was confirmed at the referee review area. The referee stayed with this decision after video review.
