Matchday 33 overview
There were four Video Reviews during Matchday 33.

CLT vs MIA: Penalty kick

Outcome: After review, Charlotte #28 [Djibril Diani] fouled Inter Miami #10 [Lionel Messi] inside the penalty area.

The final decision was a penalty [to Inter Miami].

Length of Review: 2:11

PRO’s opinion: Diani (CLT) was unsuccessful in playing the ball as he attempted to tackle Messi (MIA) and tripped the attacker. The referee saw minimal contact to the shin and allowed play to continue. The VAR analyzed the available angles and determined that there was a clear action from the defender and that the contact had an impact on Messi. The referee was correct to award the penalty kick after video review.

DC vs ORL: Red card (serious foul play)

Outcome: After review, D.C. #5 [Lukas MacNaughton] committed a serious foul play offense on Orlando #30 [Alex Freeman].

The final decision was a red card for serious foul play.

Length of review: 3:19

PRO’s opinion: Freeman (ORL) scored a goal after a shot from Marco Pašalić (ORL) was saved by Luis Barraza (DC). MacNaughton (DC) attempted to hook the ball clear as Freeman headed it into the goal but instead made contact with the attacker’s head. The referee awarded the goal and issued a yellow card to MacNaughton for a reckless challenge. The VAR analyzed the available angles and determined that MacNaughton used a straight leg and made contact using his studs to Freeman’s head. The referee was correct to issue a red card for serious foul play after video review.

Outcome: After review, Dallas #11 [Anderson Julio] was in an offside position when the ball was passed to him by Dallas #9 [Petar Musa]. Dallas #11 then interfered with play when he touched the ball prior to scoring a goal.

The final decision was offside and an indirect free kick [to Austin FC].

Length of Review: 2:38

PRO’s opinion: This was a tight decision but at the moment the ball was played to Julio (DAL), he was in an offside position. The referee was correct to disallow the goal for the offside offense after video review.

Outcome: After review, Philadelphia #11 [Alejandro Bedoya] was in an offside position when the ball was passed to him by Philadelphia #5 [Jakob Glesnes]. Philadelphia #11 then interfered with play when he touched the ball prior to Philadelphia #7 [Mikael Uhre] scoring a goal.
