BAY vs RGN: Handball (no goal)

What happened: Gray #8 [Asisat Oshoala – Bay FC] committed a handball offense when she blocked a clearance by White #3 [Lauren Barnes – Seattle Reign] and then gained possession near midfield.

The final decision was that the goal [for Bay FC] was disallowed. Play restarted with a direct free kick [to Seattle Reign].

PRO’s opinion: This was a handball offense in the APP by Oshoala (BAY) whose arm was in an unnatural position and blocked the ball from being cleared by Barnes (RGN). This was a good, efficient use of the Video Review system to rectify a clear and obvious error.
