Crew confirmed for 2021 USL Championship Final
Rubiel Vazquez will referee the USL Championship Final between Tampa Bay Rowdies and Orange County on Sunday, November 28 (8:30PM ET) at Al Lang Stadium in St Petersburg, Florida.
The FIFA referee previously took charge of the North American Soccer League Soccer Bowl in 2017 – which was also the year of his first whistle in Major League Soccer – and worked as a fourth official for the 2019 MLS Cup and 2020 Scotiabank Concacaf League Final.
Nick Uranga was one of Vazquez’s assistants in the NASL final four years ago and will join him in officiating this Sunday’s showpiece game. Uranga surpassed 100 regular-season MLS games this season, and his experience of postseason finals also includes the NWSL Championship and the USL Cup Final in 2016.
Logan Brown will also officiate his second USL Championship Final having already done so in 2015. Since that final, the assistant referee has been assigned an MLS All-Star game and worked the MLS is Back Tournament Final as AVAR last year.
Sunday’s fourth official is Rosendo Mendoza, who took charge of both the NWSL Championship and USL Championship Western Conference Final in 2019. Jose Da Silva is the Reserve Assistant Referee.
In the conference finals, both Tampa Bay Rowdies and Orange County needed more than 90 minutes to secure their spots for Sunday; the Rowdies came from behind to edge out Louisville City 3-2 in extra time to win a second consecutive Eastern Conference title, while Sunday’s visiting team defeated San Antonio on penalties and will compete for the USL Championship title for the first time in their history.
