PRO2 officials ratify first Collective Bargaining Agreement
The Professional Referee Organization (PRO), with the support of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL), United Soccer League (USL), and MLS NEXT Pro, have ratified a historic Collective Bargaining Agreement with PRO2 members of the Professional Soccer Referees Association (PSRA).
Earlier this month, officials who work games in NWSL, USL Championship, USL League One, and MLS NEXT Pro voted through proposals that will incorporate an improved training and development program, injury protections, increased pay and better travel standards, plus minimum standards for locker rooms.
Joe Fletcher, PRO’s Chief Refereeing Officer, said: “This is a landmark agreement, and we would like to thank the NWSL, USL, MLS NEXT Pro, and PSRA for their support in making this a reality.
“During negotiations, there was a pledge to improve standards for match officials from all parties, particularly around the matchday experience. This commitment is underpinned by a tremendous financial investment that will benefit not only our existing PRO2 group but future generations of aspiring match officials who will play their part in the growth of these leagues.”
