PRO officials selected to oversee FIFA Club World Cup Final
Jair Marrufo has been assigned to referee the 2018 FIFA Club World Cup Final between Spain’s Real Madrid and Al Ain, from the host country Abu Dhabi, on Saturday at 11:30am ET.
He will again be assisted on the field at Zayed Sports City Stadium in Abu Dhabi by ARs Frank Anderson and Corey Rockwell. For the second successive final, Mark Geiger will be in the Video Review booth, serving as the AVAR this year, having been the first person to operate as the VAR at last season’s FIFA Club World Cup Final.
“This is fabulous news and a marvelous end to a magnificent season for Jair, Frank, Corey, and Mark,” said PRO GM Howard Webb.
“Having already played a part in the World Cup in Russia in the summer, this further endorsement of their ability will make this a year they won’t forget. This assignment is great recognition for the quality of PRO officials and the hard work of our staff.”
Real Madrid are the current holders, having beaten Grêmio from Brazil last December thanks to a second-half free-kick from Cristiano Ronaldo. They are bidding to win the title for a record fourth time in five years.
