2016 MLS Cup crew announced
Alan Kelly will referee the 2016 MLS Cup, which takes place on Saturday, December 10 (8pm ET).
The final will be contested by Eastern Conference champions Toronto FC and Western Conference winners Seattle Sounders.
Frank Anderson and Joe Fletcher are the MLS Cup assistant referees, with Allen Chapman the fourth official and Danny Thornberry the assigned fifth official.
Referee Kelly made his MLS Cup Playoffs debut in the Knockout Round in October, and will now officiate the showpiece to bring the curtain down on the 2016 Major League Soccer season.
The assignment caps a memorable month for the Irishman, who was named as the MLS Referee of the Year at the beginning of November – an award bestowed upon him for the second successive season.

AR Anderson, who was named the MLS Assistant Referee of the Year, will be on AR1 duty, with Fletcher chosen as AR2. Anderson ran the line for 23 regular season matches, while the experieced Fletcher, who was on Copa America Centenario duty earlier in the year, was assigned 11 times.

NASL Championship referee Chapman will be on fourth official duties for the game, with Thornberry – a 2015 USL Final official – selected as the reserve AR.
