MLS week 30: A closer look at the assigned PRO officials

Four games took place on Wednesday to kick off week 30 of the MLS season.

One of the referees in midweek action is also on Saturday duty – Alan Kelly earning his 21st assignment this year when he referees New England Revolution versus Sporting Kansas City.
Robert Sibiga opens the weekend in Texas, taking him to an MLS landmark. The Polish-born official was handed three assignments last term, and Houston Dynamo’s match-up with New York City will bring him up to the 20-game milestone.

Portland Timbers are in action on Saturday at Colorado Rapids, and they were the subject of PRO’s latest Play of the Week – a handball incident in their clash with Houston. Allen Chapman referees at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park this week.
Montreal Impact, alongside the aformentioned Revolution, were also featured in the article, and they’re in Sunday action at Orlando City. Armando Villarreal is the referee, supported by AR1 Chris Strickland – fifth official at this year’s All-Star game – AR2 Jason White, and Rubiel Vazquez on fourth.
Jose Carlos Rivero, Mark Geiger, Drew Fischer and Kevin Stott are all assigned to Saturday games, along with Alejandro Mariscal who doubles his tally for the campaign.
Ricardo Salazar referees Sunday’s other game between Vancouver Whitecaps and Seattle Sounders. Frank Anderson is one of the ARs, taking him to 21 assignments alongside twin brother Ian – he runs the line at Avaya Stadium for San Jose Earthquakes versus Real Salt Lake in Week 30.
