Referee Mark Geiger has explained the decisions he made during the Western Conference Championship final leg 2.
The first was to wave appeals off when Jhon Kennedy Hurtado handled the ball in the first half and the second one was to award the Los Angeles Galaxy a penalty kick on a handball by Seattle Sounders' Adam Johansson in the second half.
"The hand was in an unnatural playing position," Geiger said of Johansson's play, "and he was making himself bigger by taking space. His arms were outside of his body. Hurtado's arm was next to his body, he was not making himself bigger, and this was a case of ball-to-hand."
