Allen Chapman has been assigned as the referee for the 2019 MLS Cup between Seattle Sounders and Toronto FC, on Sunday, November 10 (3pm ET) at CenturyLink Field.
It will be the second final in three years that the two-time Referee of the Year has taken charge of, having previously been in the middle for the 2017 MLS Cup in Toronto between the same teams.
Chapman, who was also fourth official in the showpiece game in 2016, has taken charge of 163 MLS games and this will be his 29th assignment of the 2019 campaign. He will be assisted by Assistant Referee of the Year, Brian Dunn, and FIFA official Corey Rockwell.
MLS Referee of the Year nominee Rubiel Vazquez has been named as the fourth official, with Brian Poeschel – who was another to be nominated for an end of season award – the reserve assistant referee for the third MLS Cup meeting in four years between the teams.
Vazquez was fourth official for the Western Conference semifinal between Seattle Sounders and Real Salt Lake, and in addition to 22 regular-season games as center official, he has been fourth on 11 other occasions this season. Edvin Jurisevic will be the VAR, supported by AVAR, Cameron Blanchard.
Western Conference winners Seattle Sounders booked their place after they responded to falling behind to beat Supporters’ Shield winners Los Angeles FC 3-1 at the Banc of California Stadium last Tuesday, before Toronto also came from a goal down to beat Atlanta United to claim the crown in the Eastern Conference, a day later.
